Our House – A festival of good times has launched at Shell House
Our House is a love letter to Sydney, in the gorgeous new centre of gravity for the Sydney CBD: Shell House. From the street level to the sky, over three magnificent stories, they up the tempo and combine a delicious selection of the world’s finest chefs, bartenders, visual artists and musical performers into a two month-long feast for all of the senses, until May 31.
The story of the House continues to grow, as the acclaimed dining and drinking destination amps up a cultural program that is not only distinctly Sydney, but world class. As the world returns to work in our beautiful CBD, they switch on Golden Hours, a truly unique drinking & snacking experience every afternoon – as the sun sets, across all of their bars – from the rooftop Sky Bar to Menzies Bar streetside.
Joining them on the Our House ride, their food and beverage program continues to belt out the hits: three of the world’s best bars pop up within our heritage walls. Licoreria Limantour (Mexico City, #6 Worlds 50 Best Bars) – takes over the Sky Bar in late April, while Attaboy (NYC, #34 Worlds 50 Best Bars) and The Everleigh (Melbourne, World’s 50 Best Bars Discovery) take up residency in the Clocktower Bar in May.
The heart and soul of Shell House is their two-hatted Dining Room and they up the ante with journeys through taste with their renowned Culinary Director Joel Bickford and Head Chef Aaron Ward: starting with Wet, Cold and Delicious – a deep dive into the world of tuna with John Sussman and Narito Ishii. Chef Joel combines the best of rock n’ roll with the finest of dining in Critical Riffs, where they invite a cast of Aussie rock doyens/doyennes to collaborate with him on a rock n’ wine/dine experience like never before.
Three of Australia’s most celebrated chefs, Clayton Wells (Automata), Paul Carmichael (ex-Momofuku Seiobo) and Morgan McGlone (Belles Hot Chicken) join forces with Bickford and Ward to curate a bespoke brunch offering set on the beautiful Dining Room Terrace over two Saturdays in May.
It’s not just Lights In The Night – they let the energy flow with Leah Simmons hosting 2 x sunrise KAAIAA classes on the terrace, crafting a number of beautiful moments for workers in the Sydney CBD to start the day off right. Head chef Aaron Ward alongside Alex Kirkwood will craft a breakfast menu and luxurious juice bar selection that shows that Shell House is for the people from morning, not just all the way through the night.
Since opening in October 2021, Shell House’s three levels, four bars and two restaurants have been critically lauded and booked solid for months in advance, with Good Food Magazine awarding Dining Room 2 hats and street-level bistro Menzies Bar 1 hat.
